Just as Sony attempted to get the attention of all photographers and videographers, and being on everybody’s lips for some time, Fujifilm came out with some interesting new releases, and contrary to the Sony release I have to admit that I’m a bit more excited for these ones, especially considering that I’m a Fuji-shooter myself.
Anyway, while Sony only made one release, Fujifilm had five releases, two cameras and three lenses:
FUJIFILM GFX100S – A medium format camera
FUJIFILM X-E4 – An entry level APS-C camera
FUJINON GF80mmF1.7 R WR – A GFX mount lens for their medium format cameras
FUJINON XF27mmF2.8 R WR – An APS-C lens for their X-Mount cameras
FUJINON XF70-300mmF4-5.6 R LM OIS WR – An APS-C lens for their X-Mount cameras
On top of that they also released new firmware updates for for the X100V, the X-Pro3, and the X-T30.
The new releases have been making people excited, though I’ve seen some people making some critical statements about the X-E4 in various sites. However, it is really too early to make any statements about any of the three cameras released by Sony and Fujifilm.
Personally I’m interested in the 28mm f/2.8 R WR, since I really love this focal length on APS-C cameras. The lens is of course an update to the older lens of same focal length, having added weather resistance and an aperture ring, as well as an improved auto focus motor. The weather resistance and aperture ring is a selling point for me, so even though the widest aperture is “only” f/2.8, I might still consider getting the lens.
The 70-300mm f/4-5.6 is also really interesting, but I’m not sure that it’s a lens I really need, since I’m not doing wild life or sports, though I think it could be great for some of the stuff I’m doing, like the occasional landscape and architectural work. But let’s see the reviews and how it’s received.
That said, I’m excited. Three very interesting and different cameras coming out in just two days. With everything going on, it’s nice to see that the manufacturers are still releasing different types of cameras.
What do you think about the new releases?
